Ask a Climate Scientist!
Nava Fedaeff gave us an engaging update on NIWA’s latest climate change projections—what’s changing, what it means for Aotearoa, and how this science is already shaping real-world decisions. View video Download slides (apologies from Silvia - the zoom video recording obscures part of Nava's slides. Recommend listening to audio on Youtube and viewing the slides separately. Also apologies that Silvia's 'self view' is hidden so her voice is disembodied!) A free event of Climate Mental Health Aotearoa, with thanks to Earth Sciences NZ. |

Perhaps the most confronting aspect of Nava's presentations was the predictions for changing patterns of rainfall around Aotearoa, with significant droughts predicted for the east and north, and even more rainfall in the south and west. Combine this with seasonal differences, leads to much of the country being dry for most of the year, then massive rain downpours over the summer - which is a perfect storm for flood damage.
