Deepening the conversation

Welcome to this space of reflecting on 'where we are at' ... in Aotearoa in our attitudes and feelings about climate change ... and how we experience this personally and professionally.
Silvia's Story part 1
How she began in climate leadership a decade ago and her big bold project to offer sustainability consultancy to the community sector!
15-minute video
Silvia's Story part 2
Silvia shares how the Climate Mental Health Network was formed, and current challenges. Plus four observations:
1: The fundamental disconnect between people knowing about climate change and doing anything about it.
2: Concern about climate change has been absorbed into the crazy mess of everything that we call the Poly Crisis.
3: The opposition has been far more organised than us.
4: One person consistently working away creatively can achieve more than large institutions and funding.
In conversation with Jonathan Boston
Jonathan is our 'London Correspondent', reflecting on the "horrid" experience of the intense heat & drought this summer and how weird it is that people aren't talking climate change. He chats with Silvia about the four questions raised in the 'part 2' video:
1: How do we understand and address the gap between people knowing about climate change and taking constructive action?
2: How do we manage our own emotional & mental overwhelm and support people in the ‘poly-crisis’?
3: How do we experience and respond to opposition?
4: Given that we have little institutional or financial support, what can we best aim to achieve, both individually and together?
